I would describe Singapore as the melting pot of cultures. If you ever want an SE Asia experience with the comfort of speaking and reading English, everything having order, and immaculate cleanliness, then Singapore is your country. I think both Herb and I said multiple times that we could live in Singapore, and that's saying something for Herb since the only other place he would ever consider living is Hawaii.
Friday:
Before leaving for our afternoon flight we decided to enjoy some of downtown Vietnam's Tet decorations. They closed the popular Nguyen Hue street and filled it with flower displays. Gold (yellow) flowers are found everywhere in the city to represent wealth for the new year.

It's my year! |
then off for the 1.5 hour flight to Singapore... |
We stayed at The Scarlet which was an awesome boutique hotel right in China Town. |
The furniture was BIG... |
....and decorations a little gaudy, but I loved it! |
the golden snake of lanterns... |
Dinner at a China Town food court. |
chocolate shaved ice dessert with random ingredients....including corn and sugar cane drink :) |
Saturday - Singapore Zoo
Our welcome at the entrance of the Singapore Zoo. |
This zoo is amazing because the animals are not caged. You feel as though you are walking through their natural habitat as an observer, it's awesome! |
breakfast with the chimpanzees. |
Drey's ride around the zoo. Don't mind the sticker on his face...what a clown! |
did I mention no cages....this little monkey was just chillin on the fence post as we were walking by. Enzo had no fear to try and grab him. |
Asian elephant show. These elephants are smart and STRONG! |
Enzo finally giving in and riding in the wagon... |
Inside the zoo is a water park for the kids. Drey and Enzo could have spent all day there. |
......and then the monsoon rains came and pushed us out of the park.
we holed up at KFC until the rains stopped.... |
except they didn't stop and we were forced to buy ponchos and make a run for it! |
good thing this boy didn't mind.
Sunday - Singapore Flyer
The Singapore Flyer is a huge ferris wheel that overlooks the entire city, just don't call it a ferris wheel or you WILL be corrected. It's a observation wheel :)
loading the observation capsule :) |
Marina Bay Sands Hotel. This is an awesome hotel with the BEST mall I have ever stepped foot in! |
