67 years ago on Sept 2nd 1945 Vietnam won their independence. September 2nd is to Vietnam what July 4th is to America. Around the city, on business buildings, and even on each taxi car the Vietnam flags were raised. As with many holidays that land on a Sunday what do you do? ....you celebrate on Monday....this meant no work for Troy today! In celebration of my first Vietnamese holiday we accepted an invitation to the local water park Dam Sen. Just to preface the experience, we were told it would not be crowded....

This place was nuts! I'm not sure what we were thinking going on a holiday to a water park but WOW ! I actually wouldn't let Drew put Drey down for fear that I would loose him in .2 seconds. |

Imagine Disneyland in the Summertime on a holiday and you have our water park experience, long lines and crowds. |
I was very naive in thinking there would be a grassy area to sprawl out and enjoy a good book while Enzo napped and the others went on rides....um ha! not so much. It is all tables and chairs. Everything was pretty much taken when we arrived around 11:00am so we found ourselves on the backside of the park near the restrooms and changing area...a memory in itself :) |
The children's pool area was awesome! This is Drey going down a slide in a huge elephant. |
Great slides and water features. I learned pretty quick that anything goes for swimwear in Vietnam. Most of the girls wore jean shorts with a tank top or t-shirt, but really we saw it ALL.... pajamas, leotards, long pants with hoodies, outfits that should only be worn in nightclubs.....you name it, someone was wearing it today in the water! |

Enzo getting his feel of the water. |
I like these boys. |
Drey going down first. The lifeguard was trying to stop Troy thinking that he was going to send Enzo down by himself. Notice that Troy is wearing his flip flops. He is a germaphobe and this water park did not help his condition.

Proof that I was there today. |
So in Vietnam it is common knowledge to not leave your stuff unattended. This put a little kink in our fun today since someone always had to be at the table watching our stuff. Since Enzo was not able to participate in many of the rides, I stayed back and became the table guard. Here are just a few of the many people that asked to take a picture with him while we were hanging out. |

Drew, Drey and Troy coming out from a ride. Drey loved going down the slides ...apparently so did Drew :) |
Ending the day with a little ice cream. This lady was really nice and helpful, she loved holding Enzo. |
Looks like we need some ice cream eating lessons in our family, I'll gladly teach that one! |
It was a fun day and one to check off the list....visiting a water park in Asia....Done!
